Remembering Veronica Andras: A life dedicated to family, community, and god

Veronica Andras, born Veronica Sferle, was a woman whose life radiated love, laughter, and unwavering faith. As a mother of twelve and the tenth child in a family of sixteen, her story began in Arad, Romania. She immigrated to the U.S. as an infant with her family in August of 1980, who sought to escape communism to obtain their freedom and to help give her a better life. She grew up in Portland, Oregon, and at the age of 18 she married Christian Andras. Veronica later made homes in Missouri and Idaho, and with God’s help she ended up having 12 children whom she loved until the end. She was a good mother to her children and left behind a trail of joy, encouragement, and selfless care wherever she went. She had a way of lighting up every room, not with grandeur, but with warmth, a listening ear, and her uniquely quirky humor made everyone feel seen and loved by her.

Though we grieve her absence, we rejoice in her legacy. Veronica was not only a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister, but a friend to many who will never forget her kindness, courage, and faith. She left behind more than memories, family and friends—she left behind a challenge to love deeper, give freely, and trust God completely. May we continue to honor her by living as she did—with open hearts and our eyes solely fixed on Jesus, so that we may meet her again in the place where all those who love God will live forever. Without pain or death. And where our joy will finally be expressed to the fullest in how we love and honor God forever. Let us never forget who she was and what she did until we meet again in hevean, and make new memories together.
